Tour de Bondi

Up the park end of Bondi, across from the bus depot on the north-south axis, and the Hotel Nelson on the east-west axis, stands the shop of many guises. This time last year, it housed antiques. Maybe less antique, than simply old. And battered. But, now its hour has come round again; its Warholian slice of limelight, in this month of 21 stages of the most onerous of world sports.

I admired, and then plodded on, across the highway overpass, pulling my cadee filled with cat food.

The bright colours seem to reflect the optimism of the bike dealer, Julie, while the windows on the left of the second photo reflect the street.
Beautifully done.
I had to laugh at "filled with cat food" — what, no food for you? My husband happily goes out to buy Lindy her vegetables, often forgetting people eat food, too.
Loved the pictures of Alannah on Kirsten's blog. What a busy, bright-eyed youngster she is!

An eye catching wall here. And well spotted with the Tour on. I'm also a fan of the Tour Down Under in Adelaide in January each year. What a gruelling sport it is but so exciting to see.

Thanks for your recent visits and comments to my blog here in Seattle... you caught on to my 'mo' when I'm out and about with my camera... head to the waterfront! I like the juxtaposition in this shot between the real and artistic... well spotted and captured!

Nice colourful little corner but the fact that those bikes are riding straight into the pavement disturbs me.

You seen some of the hazards in the real TDF? Give me a pavement any day over an out-of-control media car!

Great mural. I can remember something similar at a cycle shop at Kensington. I'll have to check to see if it's still there.

The object with its image, wrapped in the colors of France. Nice concept.

One of the things I find unsettling about the city and rate of turnover of the shops. The country keeps the same shopkeepers forever.

Not even taking into account the current 'moonscape', I would never be a retailer in Sydney. It is just too cut-throat, and the rents for shops just atrocious. And then along comes Westfield and queers their turf forever!

Wow, my kind of mural.

Your great Australian hope, Cadel, is still in with a shot at the yellow jersey, as I understand it. We had a weekend in Bondi a month or so back, can't believe I missed this shop.
