Theme Day - Post Card Worthy

Note: Kirsten's surgery starts at 7am Monday and should be finished by 7pm Monday. Both times are GMT+10. More in my next post, or when I know more.
Update: The operation finished about 7:15pm. She will be in ICU by 8:15 when Darren will try to see her. All vital signs are strong. Heart is strong. Team of 3 doctors will monitor the blood flow in the new jaw during the night whilst surgeon gets a rest. He will monitor during tomorrow. More later.

This is my desperate attemtp to NOT assail you with a Sydney cliche. I am standing on the western steps of St Mary's Cathedral looking across Hyde Park North into the heart of darkness that is the CBD. The tall structure is Sydney Tower (ignoring whomsoever has paid for the latest naming rights!) and the sliced cyclinder is the 'roof' of the most recent uptown shopping extravaganza. I take a Wildean tongue to this 'abomination that dare not speak its name'.

Today is Theme Day across the CDPB community. Click here to discover how other members have interpreted the 'postcard worthy' theme. Visit as many of the participants as you possibly can.

It's almost 4am in Sydney now, Julie, and I'm sure you'll be awake early today of all days. Thinking of you and Kirsten, and Alannah and Darren.
Luv, K

Yep, 4:30am ... and all is well. The cats and I are on vigil. My camera and I will go for a walk at 7am. After that, I will reorganise all the furniture. Then I plan to reorganise all my books. I need to buy another bookshelf. Today is busybusy day. *grin* Thanks, Kay,

Thinking of you today. Keep busy all will be good. Great shot of Hyde Park I will always call it Centrepoint Tower.

Yes Julie taking a walk with camera in hand is a great idea - busy is good on tough days - will be thinking of you!
Your postcard view taken across Hyde Park is a different perspective on your city - makes Adelaide look like a country town!

Hoping for everything to go well.
Being busy surely helps.

The gathering of people in the foreground adds so much colour contrast and character to this splendid view! Great shot!

Also, just letting you know that your link on City Daily to this post is broken for some reason!

good to see a different postcard view of Sydney, after all you can see that blasted tower from everywhere, especially now that they've tagged it.

pacing with you through this day.

I like that sliced cylinder building! Well, it's better than the tower on the right anyway.

All the best to you and yours today and have a good, busy day.

Thanks, Gemma. Yep, Jilly told me first thing. I have emailed Demosthenes and requested a fix. It happened to me last Theme Day, too. Next TD I shall not post at midnight Sydney time. I think it is first cab-off-rank that is the issue.

I did not know they had naming rights to the Tower. I can't keep stadiums straight in the USA because they keep changing names.

Seems to be a common problem in many cities. The Sears Tower in Chicago is now the Willis Tower. Funny how stressful times helps us tidy up. I sorted all my finances today and had many a thought for you and Kirsten. Blimey a 12 hour op, unbelievable, the poor girl. I hope with all my heart all goes well.

I hear you - good idea not to go with the cliche, which I did... I do like how the bikes are included - gives us a good sense of the great perspective.

Keeping everything crossed for you, dear Julie x

I like your idea of not-cliche. It is strange to see several scooters neatly parked at the curb. That is really uncommon here...

It's a challenge not to include a cliche and you did well!!

I don't know the story behind the surgery, but I am certainly happy for you that it appears to have gone well.

Another shopping centre. I hope it does well but with so much shopping done on line I do wonder.
Pleased to hear that all went well for your family today.

Well I thought the idea of the them was to go for the cliches. After all, do you eee many postcards that are not cliche views.

Glad all is Ok thus far for Kirsten

I hope Kirsten goes well and soon from the ICU.
About the photo, I like you've picked up in the same picture of the scooter with large buildings. Makes them even bigger.

Julie, I like the different perspective of Sydney you have captured here. Will have to check it out when I visit this month. Sounds like you had a busy day planned. I have been thinking of you throughout the day. Hope Kirsten's recovery goes well.
