Ship pulls away from the shore

And so endeth my bushwalk around Little Sirius Cove in the harbourside suburb of Mosman. I bought a chocolate paddle pop - one of my many addictions - and waited for the small zoo ferry (known as the 'Lady' class) to arrive from Circular Quay for another load of passengers. Our green and gold lady for today is the 'Lady Northcott'.

We chugged away from the Athol Street ferry wharf at the 'bottom' of the zoo, and as we slooped through the harbour, we were rapidly overtaken by the much larger ferry on the Manly run, 'Freshwater'.

My closing image is the obverse/yang of my opening image: I open with a view from the zoo to the city; I close with a view from the ferry to the bush that softens Taronga Zoological Gardens, with just the scar of the chairlift slicing through the bush.

A fine walk, ending with an exciting ferry ride. But what is a paddle pop?

A concrete jungle as the background for the beautiful giraffe. What an great and original shot, Julie. Well done!

Love the juxtaposition of the giraffe against the "concrete jungle" as described by JM.

I remember our pleasant visit to the Sydney Zoo, which ended with a walk down to the ferry landing for a return to Circular Quay. Thank you for the memories.

That first shot is a keeper. You could sell it to the Taronga Zoo or to the City of Sydney as a publicity still. Great work.
The shot of the 'Freshwater' with her beautiful bow wave, and the city in the background, could appear on the cover of a ferry schedule.
But I love the little ferry best, the Lady Northcott. She looks like a double-ender, is she? Well, anyway, she's as cute as ten buttons.

Haven't been to the zoo in years. Something else for the "To Do" list.

Dina, a paddle pop is an ice-block on a stick that contains a mix of water and milk and flavouring. Have one next time you visit the grandkids!!

I never cease to marvel at getting a giraffe against the backdrop of the city. You shot is lovely.

that appears to be a rather loquacious giraffe.

I LOVE chocolate paddle pops!!
And occasionally a banana one.
Giraffes are in my top 5 favourite animals.
I always feel a little awe-struck in their presence.

Oh ugh ... I am not keen on banana PPs at all!! But I can go for a pine/lime splice.

I am in awe that a giraffe can stand up. I have never seen one run in real life, but would think it worth seeing.

The Giraffe in the city of Sydney looks comical. A great shot. Choc Paddle Pops are my favourite. The Freshwater was in Brisbane getting a refit last year. It was funny seeing a Manly Ferry in the Brisbane River.
