Decking the cathedral

Over the last, say, 5 years, we've had many projections in the streets of Sydney. However, what we had this season on St Mary's Cathedral were exquisite. They were beautiful to watch. They were engaging. They were technically clever. It was like viewing a 3D movie on the face of the cathedral.

This projection above, took the tree through its growth cycle. It grew before out eyes. It sprouted leaves. Flowers appeared. And, finally, it was decorated for the season, all the while appearing to rotate.

There was another projection which had flowering vines, grow and cover the facade of the cathedral. However, it was not good as a still image. There was a barn owl that flew down to perch on a bough of a tree, and then fly off over the very tops of our heads.

The theme of the display was 'Peace', and the images were accompanied by sublime choral music, but I am a devotee of choral music, especially religious choral music. Did I tell you that this was great and that I liked it a lot?

Oh ... and Merry Christmas. I hope your day is all that you hoped, too.

Beautiful captures, Julie. You did a great job capturing the animated stained glass window one. We were on the same wavelength again for today's post. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas with your family.

I saw the town hall lights last night ... these do look interesting and associated with choral music that would have been great.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful day today filled with love and joy.

Very nice. Shame about the missing apostrophe in Season's Greetings...

Geez ... ESL folk are nearly as bad as reformed-smokers, I see!

I just think that if you are putting it up that big, it should be grammatically correct. Laziness is no excuse for bad grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Julie said...

But where should the apostrophe go? Is it greetings for one season or for more than one season? We are not talking summer, winter, autumn, or spring. We are talking Christmas and New Year. So, maybe, there is more than one season. Should it be season's greetings or seasons' greetings or seasons's greetings?

PS Have a happy New Year season.

Julie, could you please reply to me and let me know for how long this projection lasted and how many times it was repeated, if it was?

La projection de l'arbre est étonnante...

Julie, it is greeting for the season. Like 'it's the season to be jolly'. It is the holiday season. One season, a few holidays. So it should be Season's Greetings. This is how it is written on most cards and it is the correct way.

It may seem pedantic to you, and it probably is, but letting this kind of thing happen is what leads to people later on complaining hat young people can not use punctuation correctly. Of course they can't. They just copy what they see around them.

We need to nip this disgraceful behaviour in the bud..... :-)

*grin* ... could not agree more with that which you say, and will cease my wicked ribbing!
