Decking QVB

The Swarovski Diamond tree is, once again, beneath the main dome of the Queen Victoria Building. Winding up three floors, the full majesty of the tree becomes apparent. Well ... it used to. This year the powers that be have erected a garish Santa 'thing' right next to the top of the tree. Appalling ... just appalling. But you, dear readers, have been spared this lapse in good taste and judgement.

Thank you for sparing us that sight Julie, I prefer to remember it as Aimee and I saw it on one of our earlier trips. We were so disappointed when we came over in November that it wasn't up yet, it's a lovely sight. Love the QVB it's such an elegant building.
There don't seem to be any council signs around forbidding the adorning of Eliza, but I suspect if there were, it would still happen..those uni students haha!
Hope you and your family have a very happy Christmas Julie, take care.

Fantastic approach in this photo. Thanks for your photos and words throughout the year Julie. May Christmas bring you smiles that keep returning.

I, however, will shot the garish thing (in a wide angle arcade shot) next week sometime. This came out well. Really interesting to compare what your lens and mine will or won't do. Yours is definitely sharper.

Have a lovely Christmas.

A little taste La Fayette in Paris - the sight you have captured is just beautiful - it doesn't need any embellishments of the garish variety - perfect the way it is!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas- time Julie.

Thank you, kind friend. This is a beautiful image and I have enough lapses of my own. Merry Christmas to our friends in Australia.

How come I have never noticed this dome being so beautiful? Thanks Julie, Joyeux Noël.

What a beautiful shot of the tree. I've tried in several occasions to do it justice but with it being so huge it is rather hard. You've dun very well.

Now you've got me curious about this hideous or garish Santa thing. Since I'm not fully mobile yet, I've missed out on seeing all the Christmas decos in the city this year. Looking forward to seeing Ann's shot. :)

I would show you the only one I took, but I deleted it. There was no santa in it - being late in the evening. But it was like an arabic pergola, draped with white flashing tree lights RIGHT UP AGAINST the Swarovski tree. If I were them, I would complain.

Those top two are breathtaking. I must admit to being curious about the Santa Arabic pergola thingy now. I think the next time you are there you should get us another shot just so we can see it. Perhaps some of us may like it. I'm all for a bit of bad taste.

Happy Christmas, Julie and all the best for next year.
