Decking town hall

Sydney Town Hall stands on the intersection of George Street, with Park and Druitt Streets. From about 1793 until 1820, this was the site of the original burial ground for the colony, eventually moved to Devonshire Street (Central Station) and then, by 1906. out to Rookwood. Designs for the Town Hall started flowing from the mid-1860s, construction being completed by about 1889. Were there any bodies left in the soil below, they would be roiling in their 'resting' place at the sight of these garish, yet festive, projections.

Amazing what they can do with projections! Some of the colours are amazing, too. :~)

They do look great again this year.

These came out well, quite different to mine - your skies are much lighter. Haven't had a good look at mine yet so I hope they are focussed.

Sorry to lose you the other night. I stopped to look for my ticket and by the time I found it I couldn't see you. Did send you a text from the station but don't know if you got it.

Yes they are garish but I still like them and wish I was in the Big Smoke to check it all out.

Wonderful shots, Julie! This is a good technique for decorating public buildings during the holidays!

I don't think I have ever seen anything like that before!

Oh my goodness. So glad you took these photos. They are terrific. I believe some of Melbourne's buildings have been lit up this year. Haven't seen thm myself yet but I will have to make a bee line for them after seeing your photos.

Not sure if I like it or not. Garish is a good word.

Oh, I love it! So cheerful and madcap! Our stodgy government buildings would never go for that sort of thing - austere New England, all the way. ;-)

That's quite a sight Julie, great for the occasion but so good that it probably just takes a flick of a switch to make it all go away!

O wow they're horrible. Going down to the cathedral tonight so I will check out in person.
