Madness, by definition

It has been said - by my son - that the definition of madness is: a female, over 60, with more than two cats.

I have an eleven year old ginger called Sylvie. I have an 8 year old tabby called Sellie. And, I have a 7 year old Russian Blue called Cooper.

This is Sellie, short for Selwyn because I wanted something Welsh. Sellie adores ladders. It is the height, you see.

Awww! I love that cute, clawwed paw shot! And what is up with all the criticism of cat ladies recently? It seems to have gone off the charts in recent months. Maybe it is because everyone is so jealous of the love that the kitties are getting and they just want their grandmother's attention all to themselves. LOL! Well, too bad. I am going to be a cat lady and my family will have to share me with the furbabies. Why can't we all get along?

So, cat ladies are out in Australia, are you? Well, soon it will be someone else who is out.
In the meantime, Sellie is lovely, with his great Welsh name. I don't do ladders myself, but I can see how cats would love them.
I don't think I've ever had more than two cats at a time myself, but my family had three cats when I was a teen, and one of the cats had kittens. My parents were under 40, however.
I think Lindy should have her own cat, or two.
Tell your son the definition of madness is repeating the same mistake and expecting different results.
Luv, K

I disagree with your son, altho I'm sure he's made the statement with tongue-in-cheek. I haven't met a cat owner yet that I haven't liked! People who own and care well for their animals are my kind of people! Carry on in the feline world, Julie!

Sellie is a handsome cat. I like cats but I don't have one right now. I have an 11 year old pit bull named Smokey with the same coloring as Sellie, dark brindle with a white chest and boots. I'm not sure Smokey likes cats so for the time being I am catless.

Does the same apply to a man over 60? I hope so. Great shot of the dangling leg. I never am able to get photos of Sinbad like that. If I approach him with camera in hand he quits what he is doing and switches his attention to me. "Whatcha doin'? Huh? Huh?" snif snif purr purr. Thanks for your comment on my Monday Mural post.

I have a cat called Tindra. She used to live next door, but the neighbours also have a dog, a boxer and the animals don't get along so Tindra decided to move in with me a few years ago.

I'm more of dog person, but I had cats as pets when I was a child. Then I got dogs when I could...
Nice photos of Sellie, Julie.

I am a dog person, but I do like to chat to the cats at work. That first photo is brilliant!

delightful photograph. Shame about the verbal reference ...

Cats are so sensuous and cuddly. I would love to have one on my lap but they give me hay fever these days. I didn't realise you had 3 cats, I haven't heard of Cooper.

Nothing wrong with having more than one cat but I do like the humour behind your son's definition of madness.

I don't agree with your son. Cats are great and you get so much love of them. Your Sellie looks beautiful at ease on the ladder.

Oh, yes. Sellie is definitely at ease on the ladder. She was up there again this morning with Cooper pacing around down below. All she did was direct a few hisses in his direction.

What I did not add, is that my son has a female, black cat called Piper - after the champagne.

Love the dangling paw!!!

She's beautiful. Tabbies are my favourite. I didn't realise you had 3, I thought it was 2.

Just owning one cat is madness in my books.

Diane: tut tut tut

All: but but but I took over my daughter's cat when he and the baby failed to gel (in her eyes at any rate).
