Here is the Sydney Harbour Bridge from a different, and refreshing, prespective. Instead of the more usual SE direction, this has been taken from a SWerly direction (looking toward the NE).

Gorgeous view, Julie. I love it. If Dick ever gets me as far as Australia, you'll have to show us where this bench is, so we can sit there, sip coffee, and enjoy the bridge from a non-touristy angle.

I guess this view will vanish with the Barangaroo development.
Depends on what Packer can 'winkle' out of O'Farrell, I think. However, I think - from the RHS - this view will be blocked up until the end of the low grey building. The rest should be low-rise and then Keating's headland.
I should document the development from this spot. At the beginning of each month. There is a lot of work going on down there right now.
Block this view? 'Tis criminal, not to mention a cryin' shame.

It is wonderful how many different vantage points you all have for this bridge. It would be criminal to have developments take over the waterfront.
I haven't seen the bridge from this angle before. Nice one Julie. A fresh perspective is always welcome. I believe it is affectionately referred to as "The Coat Hanger". I've wondered if Sydney siders approve.
Yes a refreshing angle. I love the harbour and the bridge but it is possible to get a bit photoed out by it.
When that development is done we will all accept it. Remember all the fuss about the toaster and it is not all that bad. They squealed a lot about Darling Harbour too and I think it is a great asset.
Yes, yes, Joe. Sydneysiders approve, and use, the term 'coat-hanger;. We also refer to her as 'the old girl' for some godforsaken reason.
Joan: I remember well the fuss over both 'the toaster' and Darling Harbour. I would have prefered the development in front of the opera house to slope down to meet it, rather than end bluntly. I am not a great fan of Darling Harbour, although I like the water usage, and I like the old rail-track walking passage from Central that Elizabeth Farrelly designed. But all the shops, bars, and restaurants are there to simply bring out the worst in people.

It doesn't matter from which angle one sees the bridge it must be one of the most iconic bridges in the world.
This iconic bridge looks great from any angle... but you have to look to see... and you did, Julie.

That perspective is stunning Julie, I live on a few hours drive away - on my list to get there for a long weekend and just walk and walk and soak up the ambiance.
