The St Patrick's Day parade and party was held on Sunday 18th because the mercantilists did not want the streets blocked off during Saturday trading. Probably no bad thing, seeing we had one of our regular down-pours (or is it downs-pour) yesterday morning. This, of course, affects bricks'n'mortar retailers, but not online retailers. Nothing dampens the spirit behind a St Pat's day parade.

That's fabulous to see Julie. We got into the St Pat's day celebrations down at the vineyard even after picking. No where near as elaborate as this, but lots of fun.
These are great Julie!
Some fun portraits here. We don't have a parade where I live, but I did enjoy a Guinness yesterday.
Fun!!!
great photos..
Your portraits are always so good, Julie. Such a talent you have for them.
I see a young Irish dancer in costume here. Their footwork always amazes me. The little girl in the third photo looks like she might like to try Irish dancing, too.

It is nice to see how people around the world celebrate St. Patrick's Day. And it looks very similar to the U.S. with people wearing green and having a parade!
The city was bathed in green. Just saw a photo of the Opera House, lit up green from Saturday night. I wish I knew they were doing that because I was nearby and could have snapped it.
Hello Julie - thanks for dropping by.
Funny you should mention Stills Gallery a few posts ago. I was at a lecture on the weekend where I met a photographer that displays his work there (I too hadnt heard of the gallery until then). I think he introduced himself as Ian, and looking on the website, perhaps it was Ian Dodds I met.
The St Pats pics are joyous.

A great snapshot of the day Julie.
Looks like it was a great festival in spite of the down pour. Interesting that the "bricks and mortar" traders didn't want the event held on a Saturday as it would clog the streets. I would have thought they would have needed all the passing trade they could get and perhaps missed an opportunity to use St Patricks day to bring in the revelers for a spot of spontaneous shopping while sheltering from the rain.
I didn't know they did St Pats so thoroughly until I was in the city on the day of the parade one year. Your photos capture the fun of the day well.
It was on Sunday in London too. Not quite the same, really...
