The Vibes of Autumn

It was the first Sunday of Autumn. A gentle nor-easter eased in over the waters of Farm Cove. The temperature hovered somewhere between 27 and 30C. The sun shone. The sky was a brilliant blue.

And the crowd built up.

The Royal Botanic Gardens hold pride of place on the foreshore of Sydney. In another five years, they will have been established for 200 years. A project of that remarkable couple, Lachlan and Elizabeth Macquarie.

Come with me over the next couple of days as I take in the mellow sounds of Autumn, amid the rather long, moist lawns of the gardens.

They must be pretty strong. Looks like yarn string.

I read in a long time when you talk about autumn. I thought that it is a mistake. Then I understood. You get started autumn at the same time as we look to the spring. We still have a lot of snow, but already the sun is shining and it's warm during the day.

The sun chair is very attractive (we have the same). You have very hot weather.

Virginia is right. No one has an eye like you have, Julie. You see things the way my artist brother looks at them, not the way the rest of the world sees them. I always love your photos.

Sunshine!! Actually we went down to Sydney on Sunday to go visit the 100% full dam. The lawn was a lovely lush green there too.

The light through the chairs is scumptious.

I had forgotten the seasons are different in the southern hemisphere! I love these colorful chairs and the viewpoint. Enjoy the festivities!

In answer to your questions, my guess on the bird nest is robin...they are everywhere lately! And the town homes are not very old, maybe 20-30 yrs old. Nothing like Europe!

Despite the fact I lived there for a year, I keep forgetting that you guys have different seasons. We're gearing up for the most exciting event of the year in a couple of weeks - the clocks go forward! Lovely set of pics, Julie.

Jeroen & Alan - it is okay. I am quite happy to lend you warmer weather for a while. Autumn is my favourite season by miles! Jeroen, 15C is a nice temp in Amsterdam. I remember sitting at a pub beside a canal with t-shirt only and it was 12C. I rug up over here if it gets below 17C ...
