Swinging from Violet Street into Esther Street in Surry Hills. I am tucked in behind the Bourke Street Bakery. I was attracted by the street art along some of these narrow, short streets.
you cannot imagine how much i miss that; biking around almost carelessly on the streets. getting everywhere quickly, while enjoying the outdoors... just for that i will move back to the netherlands sometime... !
Is this more 'facadism'? I am appalled by the mess we made of keeping only facades of old buildings and building a modern (taller) structure immediately behind them. Worst I know are what was done to the old produce markets at Haymarket! I often visit but don't always comment on all your informative and for me nostalgic posts... but I should.
No, Stafford, this particular shot is not 'facadism'. An interesting concept which I have not vocalised previously. I do have some chronic examples in my back-library of 'facadism' and will see if I can post about it later this week.

I love the contrast between this building and the one behind it with the palm trees. Only you, Julie, only you.
Good stuff!
K
this looks more like a back alley than a street!
but definitely one that I would have wanted to explore.
Ha, good one Julie :^) Wonderful timing in this set of images.
Amazing what a difference action makes to a photo.
Bingo! Precisely the reason I posted the pair.
You had to be quick, eh?
Too right. And swinging around like that impacted my vestibular system something rotten.

I like the empty street, seems more forlorn that way. I especially like the peeling paint on the paintwork.
Fascinating. I am sure that I have walked down this alley. Great to see and you must have been quick to capture that cyclist.
