When I'm cleaning win-ders

Could it be, is it possible, that any of you are old-fashioned enough to remember George Formby?

This is my contribution to the Weekend in Black and White community.

I sure remember the song.

I do remember it too Julie, now this is a job you could never pay me enough money to do!! The movie was not what I expected, very intense..but after a bit of a disjointed beginning it definitely developed into a story with a deep message. I think you might enjoy it Julie.

Goodo, thanks Grace. I can fit a film into my schedule this weekend.

My stomach turns over just looking at these fantastic shots!!

I do remember George Formby I think
he sang whilst playing a ukulele.

Julie said...

Indeed, he did. Sing, with ukulele. And broad grin.

I don't think I need to be old-fashioned, I just need to be old, and I do remember George Formby.

This is rather extreme window cleaning isn't it? No blinkin' ladders for these guys. Nice shot.

Yep, George Formby, and later there was another song 'Cleaning Windows' by Van Morrison: 'I'm a working man in my prime, cleaning windows.'

Julie said...

Bloody hell ... George Formby and Van Morrison in the same sentence. Bet that's a first for prime-time blogging!

Cue frantic banjo strumming!
All day on a rope, not great for the back. They should be in BMUs, (Building Maintenance Units) those work platform suspended off gantry cranes attached to the roof of each high rise.

I clean windows too. I think this building would be a pane in the glass to clean on account of all those glass "fins".

I had to look up the song, but now that I've heard it, I'll be singing it all the time!

*guffaw*, Zac. I shall keep that line in mind!

Marvellous capture. Unique windows on this facade.

Jim, it is on York, second from the corner with Barrack, on the left travelling north. Do you know it?

'fraid so. That's a lot of winders to clean.

Forgot to add have put shooting details up for fire on the beach shots. They were on the sand. f5 is as wide as that lens will go. With a faster lens I would have had a chance at getting the boys as well as the fire. Take a look at some of the shots on the Natural Light Portraiture Meetup page.

Oh yes - I heard the banjo as I started reading your heading!

Excellent photos of people doing a job I wouldn't touch with a bargepole!

Wow! This is so cool! Very well captured! Love the lines!I'm glad that this is not the way I have to earn my money:)

Yep I know that song. When I lived in high-rise units they sent notes telling us when the window cleaners were coming so we could 'be prepared'.

I can't begin to imagine doing a job like this.

Great captures! I love the windows' design. But I think it will take you to have window cleaning.
