Nearly ready ...

I have introduced you to Iris and Twiggy previously.

We have a lifetime to prepare for this. We know it is the ONLY end to the story; there are no alternate endings. Yet, we still appear unprepared ...

That is so sweet... I just love the malancholia in this picture. Great art.

It is a beautiful portrait, Julie. Your photographs of the elderly people with dementia have been wonderful. Even though I enjoy making portraits, I steer away from those who don't have the mental capacity to consent to having their pictures taken. It isn't a legal issue, just my own discomfort.

I saw your lengthy comment on Halcyon's blog. I hope the CDP blog is rebuilt. The Facebook CDP page doesn't work for me, so I don't participate with it even though I do have a Facebook account by which I communicate with family and real world friends. The problem for me is that FB requires people to sign up with their real names. But, in my blog I identify myself only by a first name and a photo only of the top of my head, and I provide a masked email address for communications. This quasi-anonymous approach suits me for purposes of my blog, and I can do without the CDP FB page if I must.

Here's hoping that the old CDP pages are rebuilt and FB is not needed any longer. Until then, your work to lace the community together is helpful and appreciated (even if I am on the sidelines for FB).

Such a sweet approach!

You make an accurate and thought provoking point Julie. Perhaps it's best to be unprepared.

A feeling of sadness comforted by the warmth of a doggy.

The only way I know how to prepare is to be at peace with my maker and trust him to carry me through to the "other side" in his care.

Jack's comments about CDP parallel mine as well. I think that the reluctance of Eric to entertain alternative means of supporting the website is the real issue. Sigh!

I do quite understand the many comments I receive about the demise of the portal and the inadequacy of the FB group page. I feel the loss very strongly, and wish for its return. As I indicated to Halcyon, Eric is optimistic while I am pessimistic. ProbABLY OUR natures.

I would, too, like to see membership fees levied to enable us to receive 'service' from a web-programmer. I understand that this may reduce our membership by 50% but find I am willing to accept that.

Jack, I will contact you over the weekend. I have no problem with those who dislike FB. Just keep in touch with each other, and the info will filter down.

I have so admired your photos of dementia. and this is particularly moved with Twiggy. Confess tho I find it difficult to look at photos of people with dementia - I have so many friends here with spouses with the diseass, some now passed on. Just too many people have it. This is one of those useless comments I know.

Not at all useless, Jilly. Not at all ...

I am blessed with my access to, and relationship with each of these people. And with their ready agreement to having their photo taken. Only two have resisted ... and I honour that.

It is a challenging end to a life, I agree. As much for family as for the person with dementia. But one can have a relationship with them, with the right level of respect.
