Theme Day - Numbers

Trudging Rookwood Necropolis trying to work out how their markers worked. Looking in the Old Anglican area for Section 5. Within Section 5, Block J. Within 5J for Plot 4291.

My maternal great-great-grandparents, Thomas James & Mary Ann Selby.

There are two methods of visiting contributions from other City Daily Photo Blogs this month: the premier (official) method is to join the CDPB group within Face Book that Eric Tenin moderates; the second method, for those of you who do not belong to FB, is to post to the temporary linky page at CDPB Theme Day.

I wish all cemeteries had markers like that. I spent an entire afternoon one time looking for my great-grandparents in a Tampa cemetery only to find out they were unmarked. I have since obtained a map online and intend to go back.

I agree with Ciel Julie, thanks for sharing a part of your personal history with us. Rookwood looks very well organized, our biggest cemetery here is Karrakatta http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/OurCemeteries/Karrakatta.aspx

I haven't been there for ages and I seem to remember it as a gloomy place, I think I might have to go and take a look with fresh eyes.

p.s. thanks for sorting out my picture this morning, I'm pretty hopeless with stuff like that.

A very detailed marker indeed, lots of numbers, and interesting history as we expect from your blog, Julie.

A very organized cemetery! Wish they were all as well marked as this one.

Where numbers are always, or at least were, real people...
Thank you for hosting us again!

Lovely! So was Grace your great-grandparent?

Also - woo hoo, I finally figured out how to make Linky work! Don't know why I couldn't figure it out before. Thanks. :)

a wonderful choice for theme day!

From the impersonal maze of numbers we confront everywhere to the very personal numbers of family history. So very well done for the theme, Julie.

I am struck by how organized the plots seem to be.
but am also so pleased you found your family. and they all lived to their 80s!

I was just researching taking a ferry...I am interested in taking it just for the ride and photo ops, not to actually get anywhere!

I wanted to 'get somewhere' for this ferry ride, but from here on out, I just want to be aLONG for the ride. Eventually, I will be so accustomed to being out on all that gorgeous water that I will take details of the ferry and its passengers, instead of the view. Hope the map helps.
