Manly Beach cf Bondi Beach

View Sydney Harbour, NSW in a larger map

The upper pair of photographs was taken in early September at Manly Beach. The lower pair of photographs was taken at Bondi Beach in late September. The weather at Manly that day was bright and sunny and about 22C, whereas at Bondi there was a heavy swell and a bitter onshore wind, with the temperature feeling about 18C. As you can see from the map, these two beaches, among the most popular and most regarded, are located close to the heads of Sydney Harbour. Each beach is gorgeous. Each beachfront is gawdy and gritty. Go to either for the experience, but neither if you are looking for pristine nature.

My daughter spent her junior year in college at UNSW and lived near Coogee beach, so we visited both of these with her. Manly and Bondi beaches seemed equally good for bikini watching.

Bikini watching sounds like a fun game Jack.

*grin* ... and Coogee Beach also ... and interesting link with Australia, Jack. My daughter spent her second year of university half and half in Germany and then France.

Both beautiful beaches, Julie. I don't know why, but my mind always thinks Bondi Beach is north of the city. I'm usually very good with maps and directions, and am usually handy to have as navigator, but once a place gets misplaced in my head, it stays there. One of the mysteries of my life.

They are beautiful beaches for being so close to the city but not a patch on some of the pristine beaches of Queensland like 1770. Yes that is the name of a town in Queensland.

BTW thanks for your kind comments regarding the change in my blog title. Of course I'd love to remain part of the CDP ring.
