Digging for spuds!

After I turn the sod with my trusty pitch-fork, my grand-daughter and her friend scrabble through the soil looking for the Dutch Cream Potatoes I have been growing.
I ordered some seed potatoes from The Diggers' Club, and planted 5 of them in the second half of August. Their foilage has been growing down for the last 3-4 weeks, and yesterday seemed as good a time to harvest as any. Shall make a nice few Chrissy pressies for rellies.

Julie, Dutch Creams in my opinion are the very spud ever! Dutch Creams were mostly all we grew in the Hunter Valley and, Tasmania. Good choice!

Lefty says spuds are easy to grow. I must try it one day. Question. Why do you have to order seed potatoes rather than planting one that has been left too long in the pantry and sprouted?

Answer: You get a better quality, brand-name variety. It is free from disease. It is free from genetic mutation.

Or so the nurseries tell me. But they would say that, wouldn't they?
