Nice choice for the theme! (If you want to ignite your granddaughter's curiosity further, try growing garlic. The scapes and blossoms are amazing.)
Your granddaughter will be pleased, onion flowers are such a pretty sight!
It is often interesting to see what flowers accompany our vegetables.
I have ornamental onions in my garden and the flowers are quite pretty.
