Theme Day - Pathways and passages

Badger Weir which is part of the Yarra Ranges National Park on the outskirts of Healesville in Victoria, is home to the Mountain Ash and the Manna Gum.

Diane and I walked the Lyrebird Trail at 8am on the Sunday of the Australia Day long weekend. There were birds everywhere - cockatoos, crimson rosellas, magpies and I even saw the magnificent harp of a Lyrebird as it crossed the track in front of me and disppeared into the undergrowth. We were totally alone for 95% of the walk.

The Man from Snowy River : Verse 8
Then fast the horsemen followed, where the gorges deep and black
Resounded to the thunder of their tread,
And the stockwhips woke the echoes, and they fiercely answered back
From cliffs and crags that beetled overhead.
And upward, ever upward, the wild horses held their way,
Where mountain ash and kurrajong grew wide;
And the old man muttered fiercely, 'We may bid the mob good day,
No man can hold them down the other side.'

The park looks beautiful! I would love to walk amidst all those fantastic ferns and watch the wildlife!

I agree w/ JM - it looks so nice & those trees are so tall! We have nothing like that in my neck of the woods (Southeast Missouri) to enjoy. Very beautiful!

Juat love those tall timbers of eastern Victoria.

Me too, Sally. However, they are being burned to the ground a bit east of this in the current heat wave conditions.

At ground level I am reminded of my own beloved(and over photographed by me) nature reserve, but eye level and above the foliage is another world too me. I had no idea there were so many verses to the Man from Snowy River. Blogging is always learning.

Julie, I've meant to ask which camera you ended up buying, and what made the decision in the end...and are you happy with it?
I feel like I rushed in to mine because of the urgency of the task, but it was a real compromise. I KNOW I need another camera, and the S10 seems like a good proposition. I will have to save up for it though. Then one for photography "excursions" and one for "everyday", in the handbag.
