Seeing into the life of things

Early morning massed plantings, Moore Park, beside Southern Cross Drive
Lines composed a few miles above Tintern Abbey (extract)
For I have learned
To look on nature, not as in the hour
Of thoughtless youth; but hearing oftentimes
The still, sad music of humanity,
Nor harsh nor grating, though of ample power
To chasten and subdue. And I have felt
A presence that disturbs me with the joy
Of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime
Of something far more deeply interfused,
Whose dwelling is the light of setting suns,
And the round ocean and the living air,
And the blue sky, and in the mind of man:
A motion and a spirit, that impels
All thinking things, all objects of all thought,
And rolls through all things.
... William Wordsworth (1798)...

Oh, Julie, you can almost hear them breathing.

They are quite unusual and attractive...are they sharp to the touch?

Great photo!

Not at all sharp, Jacob. Like feather down, and one is able to run them backwards between thumb and index finger with much pleasure.

Lovely light. And you are inspiring me yet again. This time to stop being lazy about putting poems with my posts.

I love the lighting effects you are capturing.

Womad is held every year and every 2nd year cooincides with the Arts Festival. I've been I think 3 times and decided when I see the list of artists which comes out in November or December. It is huge (7 or 8 stages this year plus food stalls, bars, market) but a wonderful atmosphere. Its not cheap, runs from Friday night to Sunday night and is world music which seems to include everything from Tuvan throat singers to Paul Kelly, Neil Finn and the Cat Empire.

Here's the website: http://www.womadelaide.com.au/
if you get on the mailing list you'll get updates when they lock in artists, tickets go on sale etc.

The light is gorgeous - this one and the spider web are so evocative. And thanks for the poems. I don't read enough poems.
Chilli flower post in the pipeline!

So, your daughter is coming to Portugal; let me know if she needs any tips. :-)

Nostalgic and optimistic at the same time.
