Paddington in bloom (1)

Alma Street
Is beauty in the eye of the beholder? Are these scenes beautiful to me, but not beautiful to others, even when their attention is drawn to them? I suspect so. I am on safe ground here, but was less so earlier today when walking in the city with my son.

Sutherland Avenue
After narrowly escaping from the grasping claws of the newest Westfield to be unleashed upon our citizenry, I suggested that we have a look at the David Jones' Christmas pantomine windows. He could not bring himself to even have a look because it represented a social system which he could not abide - religion.

I am not religious, and have similar opinions. However, the windows are beautiful. Apparently, this beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Alma Street, again

I think you're safe in assuming almost anyone would find these pictures beautiful! I, too, am not a religious person, but I still find many of the trappings and customs of different religions beautiful.

Some people practice atheism as a religion in itself. I don't believe in god, but I don't resent that some people take comfort in the concept.

Hydrangeas are some of my favorite flowers...that top photo is lucious!

I believe that all this beauty in the world had it's start somewhere...what and how, is what so many attribute to God...in any form...

Very thoughtful post. It has been a great year for European plants with such a damp spring, lovely photos Julie

Beautiful blooms in urban spaces.

Actually, Christmas displays are hardly religious these days. They are nostalgia based on folktales and of course the selling of useless luxury items to people who have more than necessary and usually have no idea what to do with all the stuff they are given.

It is nice to see flowers in the suburbs. I'm not religious but can but can appreciate beauty that derives from it.

Provocative post, indeed. Nicely done, Julie.

Well those two types of flowers are the epitome of summer and as for the DJs windows ... I'm a fan though I have not seen them this year.
