Muffled drum roll stage right

Hugging the sides of a steep gully as it does, the site of The Haven Amphitheatre in The Scarp, Castlecrag, must be a really heart-breaker.

Following the contour down from The Bastion, The Scarp is not particularly steep, and one happens upon this delightful relic totally unheralded. The tree-ferns whisper in the wind, the last remaining run-off trickles over the rocks, and this Griffin creation nestles into the landscape, awaiting its leading lady.

Quiet, please. There's a lady on stage.

It really is very beautiful - are there any people around or is it a bit deserted?

So green.

Houses back onto it from all angles, Letty. There was me, and two council middle-mgt chaps.I was there at Monday lunch-time, and was the only person sitting there contemplating. When they hold a show, there are never enough seats ...

This full view is great, It is even more delightful than I expected and somewhat smaller than I imagined.

I just noticed that you changed the title of your blog and have extended its reach ... you should find at least a little bit of city grunge and action within those suburbs.

Yes, Joan. I realised that C/C stories were not diverse enough to attract readers, and to maintain my interest.

The Haven is just delightful. I will try to attend their next whatever, to catch the feel for that as well.

Saw you at Lulu's blog.
The past comes right at me through your photos! Nostalgic as well as haunted in some way.
