Wild and wooly weather

Here in Sydney we are at the mercy of an intense low pressure system, streaming wind and rain in from the ocean. We should be over the worst of it tomorrow.

Hundreds of thousands of folks are without electricity. The city has received 120mm of rain, and wind has gusted to 100kph. Regional areas, under the same system, have recorded over 300mm of rain. Not disaster proportions, just annoying. Something we should expect every Autumn.

Perhaps all my leaves will hit the turf in one fell swoop.

Category 1 cyclone apparently.

I read that the wind gusts would qualify it to be a Cat 1. But it isn't ...

Was reading about it this morning. I like your shot. ;)

That is rough weather!

And it continues, folks. The storm cells seem to my untrained eye, to be circular. Now, Wednesday morning, they are as intense as this time yesterday. I suspect that this is more than "usual".

Yes I would say a bit more than usual but while it has been wet up here we have not had much wind so nowhere near as bad as closer to the coast.

At this time of year I am always wishing the rain away so Autumn can start in earnest ... might happen soon.

With the wind and rain combination, we have no autumn left, Joan.
