Sunrise sunset

Ladies' Baths, South Coogee, New Years Eve, 9am

Having an agile and enquiring mind, has made it easier to insist that the body follow. Having a low tolerance for fools but a high tolerance for allowing foolishness, the path less trodden has always appealed. I am keen to continue to discover what is down there around that bend.

The Coming of Wisdom with Time
Though leaves are many, the root is one;
Through all the lying days of my youth
I swayed my leaves and flowers in the sun;
Now I may wither into the truth.

W. B. Yeats

Great composition, Julie! How do you call the flowers on the foreground? I had no idea you had them in Australia.

Great picture.
I like the colors and how it is framed.
That lady can can have her bath almost in the ocean thanks to the work of men who dominated nature biulding that "swimming pool"... ciao!

What a delightful shot, finding the hydrangeas to frame is pure magic.

I have always considered hydrangeas to be "old ladies" flowers (probably because the are ubiquitous in old gardens) so for me the poem is a really nice link.

Just I have learned to love hydrangeas over time I hope the promised wisdom comes too.

My grandmother had hydrangeas along her side wall in Bondi back in the 50s. They are a gorgeous flower and I will agree that they are considered passe nowadays. This entire scene spelt "yesterday" to me: the age of the woman swimming, the flowers and the name of the baths themselves. The poem just leapt into my mind: wisdom takes a much slower route.
