Sing out!

On days of great national celebration, you are either a 'this' type of person, or a 'that' type of perso. A 'this' person, sorts through all the events on offer, chooses one thing to participate in, or go see. A 'that' type of person wanders around not wanting to miss out on anything, and hoping that something of note falls into their lap. I guess that is a criticism, right? I am a 'this'.

However, on Australia Day, a friend and I wandered around The Rocks to see what was on and what folk were doing. And we chanced upon something quite wonderful and very entertaining. In The Nurses Walk, just off Suez-Canal, deep in the heart of The Rocks, there was a niche put aside for a continuing ring of choirs to entertain the milling mass. The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir was one such choir. It was great to see them flick the switch to vaudeville and really get the crowd onside.

I love the lead picture--the hand waving right next to the crisply captured faces is wonderful. Plus, the facial expressions are engaging. Well done!

Hi Julie; we might've walked by one another on the day without knowing; I was the one with the black hat with "that person" written on it :). Missed this choir but marvelled at various songsters and bands playing in and around there on the day. So glad the rains held off after the ferry-boat-race.

The first one is certainly a great capture.

They look like they are enjoying themselves. I'm a "that" type of person. I wander, although I didn't go in this year.

Love the photos, especially the first with those expressions and the moving hands. Well sometimes I'm a this person and go to a specific place for a specific purpose in photography. Other times I'm definitely a that person who wanders around watching and waiting for something to happen and it always does. But then I'm a Libra so this is no surprise....

Whereas I am a Leo, and love to get a tab on all my loose ends!

I'm neither this nor that because I'd rather escape the lot go somewhere quiet. I however do love choirs so your photos are a delight.

The more I look at that top photo the more I love it. I bet they'd get a kick out of it too.

I went out to youtube to listen to them. They like waving their hands about don't they.

I so related to what Jilly said about being a 'this' and 'that' type and put it down to being Libra, I use that excuse ALL the time when I can't make up my mind about something and a sales person is patiently waiting 'Oh I'm so sorry but y'know I'm a Libra and I just can't decide this one or that one' and they give you that 'whatever' look haha! I'm glad you're a 'this' type person Julie and focus on such great images as the three above. The joy and expression in the first is a delight to see..

You see, sometimes it pays to be an indecisive "that" kind of person, like me.
